This event will take place on May 19, 2007 as part of the 24th FIMAV.
The Bande à part website, broadcaster — via satellite radio, FM radio, and the web — of emerging and exploratory musics, presents an interview with the two members of morceaux_de_machines, A_dontigny and Érick d’Orion (in French). Listen to some audio clips of their recent release Estrapade online.
With Geisteswissenschaften, A_dontigny approches directly or metaphorically an artist (Koons, Turner), a movement (American and French abstractionism), an author (Nietzsche, Foucault, Derrida, Frege) or even a concept (such as the impossible to translate “Wirkungsgeschichtesbewusstsein”) and produces a disc which is in parallel to ‘traditional’ electroacoustics and (industrial, punk and techno sub-cultures) electronica. A feast made with 3 accomplices: Paul Dolden, Diane Labrosse, and Jon Vaughn.
Invited by curator Esther Bourdages, seven Canadian artists joined forces with Spanish composer Francisco López for the Montréal Sound Matter / Montréal matière sonore project. Working from a common pool of field recordings from Montréal, Louis Dufort, Steve Heimbecker, A_dontigny, Chantal Dumas, Hélène Prévost, Mathieu Lévesque, and Tomas Phillips created an audio work which will be released as a compilation CD. All together, they have put together a sound installation that will be presented from July 7 to August 27, 2006 at the Darling Foundry (Montréal). To complete the project, a concert featuring all these artists will be held at the Darling Foundry on July 27.
