This is the first recorded collection of James Tenney’s music of the 1960s. Much of this work was realized at Bell Telephone Laboratories from 1961 to 1969, where Tenney used Max Mathews’ groundbreaking digital synthesis program, which eventually became Music IV. This program was the model for many of the common computer music environments of the last thirty years, and the first system of its kind available to composers. —ART 1007
