Louis Dufort’s Matériaux composés and Gilles Gobeil’s Trois songes are both nominated for the Opus Prize in the category “Disc of the Year — actuelle and electroacoustic music.” Gilles Gobeil is also nominated in the category “Concert of the Year — actuelle and electroacoustic music,” for his concert entitled Trois songes presented during the Akousma (4) series produced by Réseaux in December 2007. The 12th Opus Prize Gala will take place on January 25, 2009 at Salle Claude-Champagne, Université de Montréal.
Gilles Gobeil returns to the UK to give a conference and a concert on November 5, 2008 at the University of Hull (Scarborough, England, UK). Both events are presented by SEA (Scarborough Electro-Acoustics). He will then give a master class at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland, UK) on November 7, 2008. He will also present works released on his recent disc Trois songes at the Soundings… festival in Edinburgh on November 8. The festival also features works by Robert Dow, Pete Stollery, Denis Smalley, Annette Vande Gorne, Jonty Harrison and Francis Dhomont, amongst others.
Gilles Gobeil will be in the United Kingdom and Germany to present a conference at The University of Sheffield (UK) on October 20, 2008, a conference and concert at De Montfort University (Leicester, UK) on October 22, and a concert (with the works from his most recent disc Trois songes) at the ZKM (Karlsruhe, Germany) on October 24.
