A brief contemplation of a fleeting illusion, Aquaéra 1 was my first attempt at composing with sonic elements sampled from the real world, whose morphological or imaginal nature infers or models the way other elements are set in motion.
[English translation: Tom Carter]
Aquaéra 1 was realized in the studios of Musiques & Recherches (Ohain, Belgium) in 1996 and premiered in February 1997 in the “Une heure concrète” concert series (Brussels, Belgium). The piece was commissioned by empreintes DIGITALes. Special thanks to Phil Billen (painter and sculptor), Annette Vande Gorne (professor and composer), and Marie-Jeanne Wyckmans (composer and sound-effects artist). Aquaéra 1 was recorded in 1998 on the disc Miniatures concrètes, empreintes DIGITALes (IMED 9837).
