Derrière la porte la plus éloignée… was realized in the composer’s studio in Montréal in 1998 and premiered on May 15, 1998 during the Parr(A)cousmatique concert at the 15th Festival international de musique actuelle de Victoriaville (FIMAV) coproduced by Réseaux. This work was commissioned by Arturo Parra with the assistance of the Canada Council for the Arts. Derrière la porte la plus éloignée… was finalist at the 1er Concurso Internacional de Creación Electroacústica Ciber@RT (Valencia, Spain, 1999) and was awarded a Mention at the 26th Bourges International Electroacoustic Music Competition (France, 1999). This work was further presented during the DAAD’s 50 Jahre Musique Concrète festival (Berlin, Germany, 1998), at the ICMC 2000 (International Computer Music Conference) in Berlin (Germany) and at the World Music Days 2000 in Luxembourg.

(Proust Project) Personnal reading of the first pages of Du côté de chez Swann (Swann’s Way) (1913) by Marcel Proust (1871-1922). (Recorded narration: Marc Béland)

Projet Proust was realized in the composer’s studio in Montréal in 1995 and premiered on December 23, 1995 during the radiobroadcast of Le son électrisé produced by Georges Nicholson at Radio-Canada’s Chaîne culturelle. The present version (with narration by Marc Béland; recorded by Pierre Labbé) was revised and remixed in 2000-01 and premiered on April 11, 2001 during the Rien à voir (9) concert series produced by Réseaux at Ex-Centris in Montréal. Projet Proust was commissioned by Société Radio-Canada. Projet Proust was awarded a Mention at the 1st Biennial Acousmatic Composition Competition, Métamorphoses 2000 (Ohain, Belgium). Thanks to Mario Gauthier, the radio program musical advisor and instigator for the commission.

(Crossing Point) Free adaptation of The Time Machine (1895) by HG Wells (1866-1946).

Point de passage was realized in the composer’s studio in Montréal in 1997 and premiered on May 1, 1997 during Hautes tensions produced by ACREQ at Usine C in Montréal. This work was commissioned by ACREQ with the assistance of the Canada Council for the Arts. Point de passage was awarded the Pubic Prize at the 3rd Concurso Internacional de Música Eletroacústica de São Paulo (CIMESP ’99, Brazil) and was finalist at the 25th Bourges International Electroacosutic Music Competition (France, 1998). Point de passage was recorded on the compact disc Musica Maximalista 6: III CIMESP 1999 in 1999.

(Embers Night) Free adaptation of the facinating images of the underworlds of Voyage au centre de la terre (A Journey to the Center of the Earth) (1864) by Jules Verne (1828-1905).

Nuit cendre was realized in the composer’s studio in Montréal in 1995 and premiered on February 27, 1996 during the L’orchestre de haut-parleurs concert coproduced by Codes d’accès and Réseaux at Agora de la danse in Montréal. This piece was co-commissionned by Codes d’accès (Montréal) and Musiques & Recherches (Ohain, Belgium) with the assistance of the Canada Council for the Arts. Nuit cendre was awarded the Prize of the Stockholm Electronics Arts Award (Stockholm, Sweden, 1997), the First Pirze and the Public Prize at the 2nd Concurso Internacional de Música Eletroacústica de São Paulo (CIMESP ’97, Brazil). This work was further presented at the World Music Days 1998 in Manchester (United Kingdom) and at the ICMC ’99 (International Computer Music Conference) in Beijing (China). Nuit cendre was recorded on the compact disc Musica Maximalista 4: II CIMESP 1997 in 1997.
