Transit was realized in 1998 in Studio 206 of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and premiered on 3 March 1998 in a concert produced by ACREQ at Usine C in Montréal. Thanks to Yves Daoust, Jean, Christian, David, and Mathieu for their invitation to work in the conservatory’s studio. Thanks to Mont-Royal, rising above Montréal, for the unsurpassable fright of my life while I was doing night recordings — it ended up being quite an inspiration. Pointe-aux-Trembles was realized in 1996 in the studio of the Faculty of Music of the Université de Montréal. The present version was premiered in 1997 at the concert for the fifth Noiroit-Léonce Petitot Prize (Arras, France). Thanks to Marcelle Deschênes who has always understood my work so well. Thanks to Alexandre Burton for his capable fingers during the mixing sessions, and especially for getting me out of technical nightmares. Pointe-aux-Trembles was a finalist for the Prix international Noroit-Léonce Petitot in 1997 and was first recorded on the Prix international Noroit-Léonce Petitot 1997 disc (NOR 5). 2e. Zénith was realized in 1999 in Studio 213 of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and was premiered on 6 November 1999 during the Hautes tensions concert at the Elektra festival produced by ACREQ at Usine C in Montréal. Thanks to Marie Chouinard and Luc Lemay (from the band Gorguts) for their vocals, and to Serge Prévost for studio access. 4. [v-01] Décap was realized in 2000 at the composer’s studio, Control, and was premiered on 8 March 2000 during the Rien à voir (7) concert series produced by Réseaux at Ex-Centris in Montréal. Décap is partly excerpted from the music commissioned by the Compagnie Marie Chouinard for Le cri du monde, which was choreographed by Marie Chouinard. Thanks to Marie Chouinard, Émilie Laforest, and Luc Lemay for the kind use of their voices.
