Died at the young age of 41 and forgotten too rapidly by the majority, Bernard Bonnier — musique concrète pioneer follower of Pierre Henry —, nevertheless bequeathed one of the most beautiful Canadian exploratory record. Casse-tête is an incontrovertible work of our cultural heritage.

Porté disparu dans une quincaillerie brings together a DVD-Video, CD-Audio and a 32-page booklet of the work of Jean-Pierre Gauthier, a Montréal-based artist well-known for his kinetic and sound installations. The DVD-Video presents 23 installations realized since 1997, while the CD-Audio is made of works brought into existence during his research for his installations. A retrospective of Jean-Pierre Gauthier’s work is shown at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal until April 22, 2007.

The Oral label just unveiled two new releases. Firstly, following the success of the 1982 reissue of Monotonprodukt 07 [20y++] by Monoton, the label now releases Monotonprodukt 02 [Blau — 26y++], the previous long unavailable 1980 album. This remastered reissue also contains 3 bonus tracks from the same period. Secondly, one of the two co-monarchs of the Kingdoms of Elgaland-Vargaland, Carl Michael von Hausswolff, is launching his album The Wonderful World of Male Intuition. Hausswolff, paranormal electronic interferences specialist, was awarded a mention at the 2002 Prix Ars Electronica.
The Volt-AA (08) concert sees the gathering of Jean-Pierre Gauthier, USA minimalist composer Richard Chartier in his long awaited first appearance in Montréal since Mutek 2000, Cal Crawford whose minimal works combine rigorous sound research as well as risk taking, and i8u, who makes a return to Volt-AA following a long period of sound research and exploration to present yet another fascinating journey into digital manipulation of field and studio recordings. The concert is held on December 9, 2003 at Montréal’s Société des arts technologiques (SAT).
Don’t miss the excellent frenchman Philippe Cam, who appears on the German label Traum. Also, hear the first live set from Montréaler Jean-Sébastien Roux also know as tlon, recently signed on the Oral label. Moreover, two well known djs joins them: P(r)axil, master of ceremony and Oral’s guru as well as Akufen, the sound slicer and his sharp turntables. Oral presents an eavening in two steps at O Patro Vys (Montréal) January 17, 2003. Firstly, a concert and CD launch with Christof Migone, Le Pétomane and Martin Tétreault followed by the musics of Orazio Fantini and turntablist Endless.
