The 5th Qwartz Electronic Music Awards took place on April 3, 2009 at Cirque d’hiver Bouglione in Paris (France). Lionel Marchetti has been awarded the Artist Qwartz and won in the experimental category with his work Adèle et Hadrien (le livre des vacances). In the artwork and packaging category, the winner is Skoltz_Kolgen’s video Silent Room. Christian Zanési has been awarded the Special Qwartz.
Je me souviens, a 4-day series of exploratory music (curated by Éric Mattson), will be presented on April 23-24, 2008 and May 22-23, 2008 at La Sala Rossa in Montréal. Amongst guest artists: Aun, Chantale Laplante, Skoltz_Kolgen, Alexandre St-Onge, Martin Tétreault, Nancy Tobin…
Mois Multi is a festival of technological arts held in Québec City which features multidisciplinary creations, performances and installations. Gordon Monahan will show his work Theremin in the Rain on February 1, 2006, Magali Babin will perform live at the “audio cabaret” on February 10 and 11, 2006, and Skoltz_Kolgen will present Epiderm on February 10 and 11, 2006. All events are taking place at Méduse.
Many Canadian artists have received distinctions and special mentions in the “digital musics” category at the recent Prix Ars Electronica 2005 competition. John Oswald was awarded a distinction for his plunderphonics. Gilles Gobeil’s composition Ombres, espaces, silences… received a mention. Duo Skoltz_Kolgen also obtained a mention for their performance work Flüux :/ Terminal. Finally, the Artificiel trio were awarded a mention for the project condemned_bulbes.
Frottements, an exhibiton dedicated to the exploration of sounding objects and surfaces, is shown at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (Québec City) September 1 to Novembre 28, 2004. The exhibition’s curator, Nicole Gingras — who also directed the book S:on, Sound in Contemporary Canadian Art, gathered several artists such as Jean-Pierre Gauthier, Raymond Gervais, Jocelyn Robert, the Skoltz_Kolgen duo as well as Martin Tétreault. Tétreault will perform Passages sur illustration sur vinyle on the first night, September 1, 2004 at 7 pm in the museum’s auditorium. On September 17, Skoltz_Kolgen will give a live performance at 9pm.
