The WFAE International Conference on Acoustic Ecology will take place from October 3 to 7, 2011 in Corfu (Greece) with fifty papers and roundtable discussions and 4 concerts. Hildegard Westerkamp, Katharine Norman, and R Murray Schafer are amongst the five keynote speakers. Theodore Lotis will present a paper on soundscapes and sound installation art.
Electroacoustics will be heard at the 2006 World New Music Days in Stuttgart (Germany). Opening on July 14, 2006 the installation … raumKLANG raum… entgrenzend put together by Sabine Schäfer and Joachim Krebs explores the dimensions of sound, space, time, and movements with their music and works by Ferrari, Minard, Sistermanns, Schafer, and Westerkamp. The “Long Night” organized by DEGEM with music by more than 18 composers (including Tutschku) will start on July 21. Finally, the ZKM organized the Short Cuts: Beauty competititon for works of 3 to 8 minutes in duration. The selected pieces will be presented at the Chillout Lounge at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart starting on July 18.
Arturo Parra will play R Murray Schafer’s Le Cri de Merlin (for guitar and tape) alongside other first-rate Montréal musicians for the event R Murray Schafer in Concert. This concert-homage will be held in presence of the composer on Saturday November 26, 2005 at Concordia University’s Oscar Peterson Hall (Montréal).
In Montréal on January 20, 2004, Éditions Artextes launched S:on, Sound in Canadian Contemporary Art, an anthology compiled by Nicole Gingras.
