AVATAR Digitale] [Poesie, a media art event around e-poetry, will take place from June 24 to July 22, 2007 at Tesla as part of the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin (Germany) festival. La première phrase et le dernier mot, audio/video installation by Christof Migone; Leçon de piano, audio/video installation by Émile Morin + Jocelyn Robert; L’origine des espèces, audio/photo installation by Jocelyn Robert; and Le don d’ambiguïté, visual and sound performance by Pierre-André Arcand will notably be presented.

Calon, Dhomont, Gobeil, Normandeau, Robert at Inventionen, BerlinInventionen 2006, Festival für aktuelle Musik presents concerts, installations and conferences on May 24-28, 2006 in Berlin. On May 25 Jocelyn Robert will present Resident of Unit D at Telas-Kubus (Klosterstraße 68-70, Berlin-Mitte). On May 28, at Villa Elisabeth (Invalidenstraße 3, Berlin-Mitte), Christian Calon, Robert Normandeau, Gilles Gobeil, and Francis Dhomont will respectively present their acousmatic work Time Well / La fontaine du temps, Tangram, Nuit cendre, and Voyage-miroir. During the whole festival, May 24-28, at DAAD Galerie (Zimmerstraße 90/91, Berlin-Mitte), the works StrinGDberg and Éden by Robert Normandeau will be played every half-hour from 11am to 6pm; a conference by this DAAD resident composer is planned for May 24 at 6pm.

Mois Multi Presents Soft Avatar, Québec CityMois Multi, a festival of technological art, presents Soft Avatar, a concert of performances made with four original digital instruments created by the audio art collective Avatar, on February 12, 2005 at the Multi hall of Québec City’s Méduse complex. Jocelyn Robert, Louis Ouellet, Mériol Lehmann and Éric Morin will make a demonstration of “Map-O-Mix”. Philippe Pasquier will use the “MachinesMOTOR” in an multi-channel audiovideo context. Jocelyn Robert will perform with the “MRNJR” (a double Macchina Ricordi) and Georges Azzaria performance will feature the “DÉCHIQUETEUSErecoleuse” (CUTTERpaster). Finally, Christian Calon will present four compositions, each of them executed with one of the four software.

Sounding Objects and Surfaces in Québec City
Frottements, an exhibiton dedicated to the exploration of sounding objects and surfaces, is shown at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (Québec City) September 1 to Novembre 28, 2004. The exhibition’s curator, Nicole Gingras — who also directed the book S:on, Sound in Contemporary Canadian Art, gathered several artists such as Jean-Pierre Gauthier, Raymond Gervais, Jocelyn Robert, the Skoltz_Kolgen duo as well as Martin Tétreault. Tétreault will perform Passages sur illustration sur vinyle on the first night, September 1, 2004 at 7 pm in the museum’s auditorium. On September 17, Skoltz_Kolgen will give a live performance at 9pm.

In Montréal on January 20, 2004, Éditions Artextes launched S:on, Sound in Canadian Contemporary Art, an anthology compiled by Nicole Gingras. Amongst the artists represented on this publication we find Pierre-André Arcand, Georges Azzaria, Steve Heimbecker, Hugh Le Caine, Christof Migone, Hélène Prévost, Jocelyn Robert, R Murray Schafer, Michael Snow, Alexandre St-Onge, Martin Tétreault, and Hildegard Westerkamp.
