The 5th edition of the Sound and Music Computing Conference (SMC ’08) will take place from July 31 to August 3, 2008 in Berlin (Germany). Starting July 23 concerts will be presented as part of the Inventionen 2008 festival. The joined programme is absolutely outstanding: many artists will be there, such as Martin Bédard, François Bayle, Ivo Malec, Bernard Parmegiani, Jean-Claude Risset, Denis Smalley, Horacio Vaggione, Annette Vande Gorne… Not to be missed:

  • July 26: concert by Gilles Gobeil (Trilogie d’ondes) with Suzanne Binet-Audet playing ondes Martenot;
  • July 27: concert “60 Jahre Musique Concrète & 50 Jahre GRM”;
  • July 31: SMC ’08 opening concert with Gilles Gobeil (premiere of Castalie), Ludger Brümmer, Hans Tutschku et Åke Parmerud.

On April 24, 2008, a 50-year journey proposed by José Manuel Berenguer & Carmen Pardo will be presented as part of the Ars Musica’s Night of the Electroacoustic Music. The event will take place at Kaaitheater in Brussels (Belgium). The concert is in three part, each of them is dedicated to a generation of composers. On programme, works by: Schaeffer, Varèse, Eimert, Stockhausen, Xenakis, Ferrari, Risset, Dhomont, Ferreyra, Mandolini, Vande Gorne, Polonio, Truax, Vaggione, and Kupper.

Two concerts will be held soon at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow (UK). On January 8, 2007, Invisible by Jean-Claude Risset will be presented amongst other works for voice, instruments and tape. On January 9, scènes, rendez-vous by Pete Stollery, and Hot Air by Jonty Harrison, are amongst the featured compositions.

The 2005 Silence festival will be held from November 25 to 27, 2005 at the IPS Gorjux auditorium in Bari (Italy). The acousmatic concerts will feature works by Pierre Henry, François Bayle. Luc Ferrari, Bernard Parmegiani, Luciano Berio, Jean-Claude Risset, Beatriz Ferreyra and many others.

Sol y sombra… L’espace des spectres, a composition by Francis Dhomont and Arturo Parra, was selected for the next edition of the ICMC (International Computer Music Conference), to be held in Barcelona (Spain) from September 5 to 9, 2005. The European premiere of the work will take place at the Auditori on September 8, 2005. Works by Daniel Teruggi, Ludger Brümmer, Beatriz Ferreyra, David Berezan, Jean-Claude Risset, Elsa Justel and Paulina Sundin were also selected.

A cycle of meetings, titled Les Co-Incidences (The Co-Incidentals), will be held during the Synthèse festival, from June 4 — 12, 2005. Max Mathews, John Chowning and Jean-Claude Risset will talk about the history of computer music on June 6, 7 and 8, 2005. Barry Truax will tackle the sounding space and text-based composition on June 9, 2005.
