On October 20, 2009 at the Teatro Libre de Bogotá (Colombia) Arturo Parra will present the concert premiere of his piece for guitar and tape Miguel. The work evokes the spanish civil war, the Franco dictatorship, and more precisely the great spanish poet Miguel Hernández, partisan of the Front républicain, who died in Franco’s jails in 1942. The work was awarded the first prize at the Concurso Nacional de Composición Musical Ciudad de Bogotá in 2008.
Arturo Parra and Catherine Ego celebrates 15 years of their theatre for the ears duet Paroles égales on May 30, 2009. For this occasion, they will premiered Parra’s work Novecento, guitariste, based on Novecento: pianiste text by Alessandro Baricco, at Volver Café culturel in Montréal.
5-Penny New Music Concerts is presenting Arturo Parra in a concert of the integral of his disc Voz (four works for guitar and spoken voice) on May 23, 2009 at St Peter’s United Church in Sudbury (Canada). Parra will also give classes and conferences in schools of the area.
Paroles égales (Catherine Ego, spoken voice; Arturo Parra, guitar and original music) has presented three premieres on the university radio Javeriana Estéreo in Santafé de Bogotá (Colombia) on March 1, 2009. amongst those pieces, Miguel by Arturo Parra, a work for guitar and tape which was awarded the first prize at the Concurso Nacional de Composición Musical Ciudad de Bogotá in 2008.

Arturo Parra will present works from his disc Voz in Colombian premiere on February 11, 2009 at the Iglesia de Santa Lucia in Chía (Colombia). He will also present two seminars: the first one is on listening sensitivity with, amongst others, musical excerpts from Forêt profonde by Francis Dhomont using listening scores; the other seminar will be is on new playing modes and the interaction between guitar and electroacoustics.
Arturo Parra give a concert and a master class at the UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) during the VII Semana Internacional de Guitarra 2008 which takes place from November 3 to 8, 2008. The master class will present the new playing modes he has created and the interaction between guitar and electroacoustic.
