Francis Ouellet

Active on the Québec cultural scene for many years, French horn player Francis Ouellet has performed with major music ensembles such as the Orchestre philharmonique de l’Isle, the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, the Orchestre baroque de Lamèque (New Brunswick), Ensemble les nations and Ensemble Nouvelle-France, as well as the Pentaèdre Wind Quintet. He has been a member of the Nouvel ensemble moderne (NEM) since its inception. Francis Ouellet studied at the Université Laval (Québec City), under Abe Kniaz and then worked in Liège (Belgium) with Francis Orval. He obtains a Masters degree at the Université de Montréal under Jean Gaudreault. Since May, 1992, he has been under the tutelage of Phil Mayers, solo French horn player with the New York Philharmony.
