Sylvia Marini (Italy)

• performer (mezzo-soprano)

Sylvia Marini was born in Italy into a family of musicians of Russian origin. She received the Premier Prix in singing from the Music Conservatory of Aquila (Italy) and since 1990 has devoted herself to opera. In 1994, she won the second Grand Prize at the International Voice Competition in Toulouse (France). She is also interested in other repertoires, a fact which has led her to sing sacred music and lieder (Der Knaben Wundernhorn and Rueckert Lieder by Mahler with the Orchestre National d’Île de France and Lieder Eines Fahrenden Gesellen with Ensemble TM+ directed by Laurent Cuniot). She participates regularily in premieres such as Fleur d’Albâtre by Gualtiero Dazzi, Léone by Philippe Mion, Romancero by Luis De Pablo, and Verrà la morte by Laurent Cuniot. She has performed programs devoted to operatic arias and the works of Mozart with the Orchestre Poitou-Charentes under the direction of Laurent Cuniot, and the Orchestre de Picardie under the direction of Louis Langrée.
