The concert Éclats de vie — presented during the Akousma (6) festival — featuring the work of Chantal Dumas and Lionel Marchetti received the “2009-10 Opus Prize: Concert of the Year — actuelle and electroacoustic music” at the 14th Opus Prize Gala on January 30, 2011 in Montréal.
Réseaux presents Akousma (6), Electroacoustic Musics Festival, on November 18 - 22, 2009 at Monument-National and Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. 5 evenings of immersive concerts where sound will be bursting into shards of all shapes and sizes. On the programme: BJNilsen, Theresa Transistor, Paul Dolden, Chantal Dumas, Lionel Marchetti, Érick d’Orion, eRikm, Martin Messier, Olivier Girouard and many others. Plus conferences and workshops.
The 5th Qwartz Electronic Music Awards took place on April 3, 2009 at Cirque d’hiver Bouglione in Paris (France). Lionel Marchetti has been awarded the Artist Qwartz and won in the experimental category with his work Adèle et Hadrien (le livre des vacances). In the artwork and packaging category, the winner is Skoltz_Kolgen’s video Silent Room. Christian Zanési has been awarded the Special Qwartz.
The Futura festival will take place from August 21 to 24, 2008 in Crest (France). Amongst guest composers, let’s point Patrick Ascione, Natasha Barrett, Michel Chion, Pierre Henry, and Lionel Marchetti’s presence. Also, in the Nuit blanche programme (August 23rd) Gilles Gobeil will present his piece Ombres, espaces, silences…, Francis Dhomont will diffuse Signé Dionysos, and Annette Vande Gorne her piece Exil, chant II.
The French magazine Revue & corrigée (#76, June 2008) has published an impelling article Pourquoi faites-vous des disques? (“Why do you make CDs?”). Jérôme Noetinger, remembering the 1987 Libération special issue asking “Why do you make films?” and the answer by Jean-Luc Godard (“I make movies to avoid the why question”), has decided to ask "the why question" to about 40 artists and producers, amongst whom: Jean-François Denis, Bertrand Denzler, Bernard Fort, Lionel Marchetti, Martin Tétreault, Carole Rieussec, Joëlle Léandre…
In residence at La Ferme du Vinatier — a cultural structure in Lyon (France) incorporated into a hospital — since October 2006, Lionel Marchetti has given recording workshops to hospital staff, visitors and clinic-in patients. The audio material captured during those workshops have sparked off the electroacoustic installation pour un bestiaire végétal… that will be presented in the garden of the hospital throughout June. The opening will take place on June 5, 2007.
