Born in Montréal in 1964, musician-composer Alexander MacSween has participated in numerous film, dance and theatre projects. He has worked with Louise Bédard, Estelle Clareton, Ginette Laurin, Robert Lepage, Montréal Danse, José Navas, Crystal Pite, and Richard Siegal. He also regularly tours with the actress, Marie Brassard, in her pieces The Darkness and Peepshow. Alexander’s compositions often feature manipulations of the human voice by various technologiucal means. Alexander is also very active as a drummer, navigating between the worlds of rock, electronica, and improvisation. He has played with Paolo Angeli, Bionic, Tim Berne, Michel F Côté, Frank Gratkowski, The Nils, Sam Shalabi, and Martin Tétreault. He is presently member of the trio, Foodsoon, with Bernard Falaise and Fabrizio Gilardino. In June 2006 he created his first sound installation, Calice, for the CitySonics festival in Mons (Belgium). This piece will be remounted in 2007 at the PX festival in Tuscany (Italy) and ate the Luxembourg edition of CitySonics.
