Apostolos Loufopoulos (Greece, 1974) • composer
Apostolos Loufopoulos first studied electroacoustic music with Andreas Mniestris at the Ionian University of Corfu until 1999. He has attended seminars on contemporary composition and music technology at IRCAM (Paris, Académie d’été, 1998) and he has participated in many electroacoustic festivals and conferences, including ICMC (2003), L’Espace du son (2002, ’03), Cinema for the Ear at DIEM (2002). He has participated and has been awarded prizes at international competitions, such as Bourges (France, 2003), SCRIME (Bordeaux, France, 2003), Métamorphoses (Brussels, Belgium, 2002), Prix Noirot-Léonce Petitot (Arras, France, 2002). His works have been performed in Greece, UK, France, Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Singapore, Argentina, and Chile and they have so far appeared on four CD compilations (Ionian University, Musiques & Recherches, Ina-GRM, SCRIME-Noirot), on the radio (France, UK) and on the Internet. He currently studies with Denis Smalley at City University, London, researching towards a PhD in electroacoustic composition.
