L’itinéraire Premieres a Work by Laporte in Paris, France

L’itinéraire ensemble will premiere Jean-François Laporte’s work Craquements d’âmes on May 18, 2009 as part of the Extension festival at the Auditorium Saint-Germain in Paris (France). A work by Sébastien Béranger and a premiere by Tatiana Catanzaro are also featured.

4th Sound Art Workshop Directed by Daoust in Orford

The Orford Arts Centre (Québec) announces its 4th Sound Art Workshop as part of the International Music Academy. Held on August 2 to 15, 2009 the workshop, directed by Yves Daoust, is open to sound creators of all styles. This year Yves Daoust — assisted by Alexandre Burton, and Jean Landry — has invited guest masters Gilles Gobeil, Jean-François Laporte, John Oswald, and Hans Tutschku with special guests Robert Normandeau, and Annette Vande Gorne.

A Mixed Music Concert in Montréal

On May 10, 2008 Productions Totem Contemporain will present a concert of electroacoustic and instrumental works at Espace Totem (6545, Durocher #400) in Montréal. On the programme are works for recorder, amplified doublebass, bowl, turntables, and live processing and a performance for musician and dancer. With Swedish Jesper Nordin, Anna Petrini, and Montréaler Frédéric Tavernini, and Jean-François Laporte.

Bourges 2002: Rewarded Composers

Marcelle Deschênes Monique Jean

Canadian composer Marcelle Deschênes is one of the rewarded composers at the 2002 edition of the Bourges International Electroacoustic Competition where she was awarded the prize for best “multi-media work” for Die Dyer (video by Alain Pelletier). Elsa Justel received a mention in the same category for her work Destellos. For the “studio work without instrument” category, canadian composer David Berezan won the Trivium award. In the same category, composer Jens Hedman received a mention for his work REcoil. In addition to the rewarded musics, the compositions Gwerz by Elsa Justel, Low Memory #2 by Monique Jean and L’éveil d’un titan by Jean-François Laporte had been selected in their respective categories.
