The 2009 Futura festival will take place on August, 20 — 23, 2009 in Crest, France. On the programme, works by Otomo Yoshihide, Luc Ferrari, Denis Dufour, Francis Dhomont (Corps et âme), Michel Chion, Michèle Bokanowski, Chantal Dumas, Ivo Malec, Bernard Parmegiani, Christian Zanési, Christian Calon and many others.
Élektrophonie (France) will present the 8th “Nuit bleue” on July 11, 2009 at Saline Royale in Arc-et-Senans (France). Many works are programmed during the “Nuit acousmatique” concert: Cyclo by David Berezan, Premières traces du Choucas by Francis Dhomont, Champs de fouilles (Excavations) by Martin Bédard, Voix de l’aurore by Ingrid Drese, L’escalier des aveugles by Luc Ferrari, Dancing on the Edge of Silence by Monique Jean and many others. A portrait of Patrick Ascione will also be presented on the same night during the "Cinéma pour l’oreille" concert.
The 5th edition of the Présences “électronique” festival will be held at the 104 in Paris (France), on March 13 — 15, 2009. Its highlights: Denis Smalley, Bernard Parmegiani, Denis Dufour, eRikm, Luc Ferrari, and many others!
On April 24, 2008, a 50-year journey proposed by José Manuel Berenguer & Carmen Pardo will be presented as part of the Ars Musica’s Night of the Electroacoustic Music. The event will take place at Kaaitheater in Brussels (Belgium). The concert is in three part, each of them is dedicated to a generation of composers. On programme, works by: Schaeffer, Varèse, Eimert, Stockhausen, Xenakis, Ferrari, Risset, Dhomont, Ferreyra, Mandolini, Vande Gorne, Polonio, Truax, Vaggione, and Kupper.
Sonopsys: Luc Ferrari by photographer Florence Gonot, and composer and visual artist Alexandre Yterce is a French & English large format publication available in 500 copies. The “head” edition of 15 copies includes an original photomontage, and is presented in a special package.
An augmented edition of Portraits polychromes 1: Luc Ferrari has just been published by Ina-GRM. Without changing anything of the original version, this new edition includes the testimony of six women which helps us better understand the man and his work. Tatjana Böhme-Mehner, Brunhild Meyer, Radosveta Bruzaud, Andrea Cohen, Monika Lichtenfeld, and Jacqueline Caux have contributed to this new version of the book.
This year, the Futura 06 festival in Crest (France) is compressed into a 3-day event — August 18 — 20, 2006 — and into one 35-hour concert. Amongst the featured composers: Luc Ferrari (homage), Michèle Bokanowski, Michel Chion, Darren Copeland, Matmos, Yann Paranthoën (homage), Elsa Justel, Roxanne Turcotte, and Pierre Henry. Then on August 27, a concert concluding an acousmatic diffusion workshop will feature 15 works by just as many composers, including Francis Dhomont and Marc Tremblay.
Electroacoustics will be heard at the 2006 World New Music Days in Stuttgart (Germany). Opening on July 14, 2006 the installation … raumKLANG raum… entgrenzend put together by Sabine Schäfer and Joachim Krebs explores the dimensions of sound, space, time, and movements with their music and works by Ferrari, Minard, Sistermanns, Schafer, and Westerkamp. The “Long Night” organized by DEGEM with music by more than 18 composers (including Tutschku) will start on July 21. Finally, the ZKM organized the Short Cuts: Beauty competititon for works of 3 to 8 minutes in duration. The selected pieces will be presented at the Chillout Lounge at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart starting on July 18.
Katharine Norman’s book Sounding Art (242 pages + 1 CD) is now available on electrocd.com. The book describes various aspects of sound art, and presents the work of many artists such as Magali Babin, Luc Ferrari, Barry Truax, Francisco López, Hildegard Westerkamp, Francis Dhomont, Merzbow, John Oswald, and Martin Tétreault.
On January 19, 2006, at the Petit Théâtre Mercelis in Brussels (Belgium), Musiques & Recherches will present a concert-homage to composer Luc Ferrari, deceased last August. The featured works will be spatialized by Annette Vande Gorne.
