Lise Daoust (Montréal, Québec, 1950) • residence: Montréal, Québec

Lise Daoust was born in Montréal and began her musical training there at the Conservatory. She pursued her studies in Paris for five years with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alain Marion and Christian Lardé. Her performances of contemporary works, especially of Canadian composers, have drawn public attention and many invitations to perform as soloist with Canadian and international contemporary music ensembles and to participate at prestigious European festivals (principally in France, Belgium, Italy and Germany). She was awarded the 1988 Flandre-Québec Prize (Flemish-Québec Prize) for her outstanding performance of today’s music. In November, 1989, she worked with Kathinka Pasveer and Karlheinz Stockhausen upon his invitation.
