Adele Armin (Morris, Manitoba, Canada, 1945)

• performer (Raad violin)

A graduate of Indiana University and the University of Toronto, Adele Armin has won top prizes at violin competitions in Toronto, Montréal, Geneva and New York, and has toured extensively as a soloist performing classical and new music repertoire. In the early 1980’s she participated in the development of the Raad electroacoustic string instruments and has since been a contemporary violin music champion in Canada having commissioned and premiered a large number of works from Canadian composers, among them Sergio Barroso’s Jitanjáfora (for Raad violin and orchestra with electronics) which was awarded at the International Music Council (IMC) Rostrum of Composers (Paris, 1995). She has performed with the Esprit Orchestra, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, and the Toronto Chamber Players, amongst other ensembles.

Adele Armin is currently a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO).
