The 11th Opus prizes winners were announced yesterday, January 27, 2008, in Montréal. Amongst the 26 Opus Prizes… the “Album of the year — actuelle and electroacoustic musics” is petits Big Bangs by Marcelle Deschênes; the “Composer of the year” was given to Serge Arcuri; the “Tribute Award” was given to Otto Joachim.

For the “Monde parallèle Montréal 45°N//” event, organized by Lille — Cultural Capital of Europe, label empreintes DIGITALes presented a portrait of Montréal’s electroacoustic creation since 1971 through 24 works by 21 Montréal composers: Serge Arcuri, Yves Beaupré, Christian Bouchard, Ned Bouhalassa, Christian Calon, Micheline Coulombe Saint-Marcoux, Yves Daoust, Francis Dhomont, Paul Dolden, Louis Dufort, Gilles Gobeil, Monique Jean, René Lussier, Robert Normandeau, Arturo Parra, Mario Rodrigue, Stéphane Roy, Alain Thibault, Jacques Tremblay, Marc Tremblay, Roxanne Turcotte. Electroacoustic label empreintes DIGITALes, new media and electronic art festivals Elektra and Mutek with the collaboration of the Society for arts and technology (SAT) all teamed up to present the best of Montréal’s electronic music and video.
The Continuum Contemporary Music ensemble, under the artistic direction of Jennifer Waring, presents “Brassage,” a concert held at Toronto’s Music Gallery on February 17, 2004. Amongst the works presented, Michèle Gagnon (french horn) and Ryan Scott (percussions) will play Serge Arcuri’s composition Lueurs, for instruments and tape. This work appears on his 1993 disc Les méandres du rêve.
The 3rd Biennale de Montréal (September 27 to November 3, 2002) pays tribute to Betty Goodwin, Montréal artist who signs the cover of the CD Les méandres du rêve by Serge Arcuri.
